Welcome to the Memorial Middle School 8th Grade Humanities Blog!
Humanities is a one semester course for eighth grade students that explores various aspects of the fine arts. Students will study visual, and musical arts. Primary focus is given to those masters who have become known as the great artists and composers withstanding the test of time. These master artists are known as legends in their fields. The key to success in this course is to have an open mind to experiencing the arts.
You need to choose which of the 7 Ancient Wonders you consider to be the greatest. In your comment, you need to give reasons for your choice to support your decision.
The best one is Pharos of alexandria. It lighted people there way. It was a really tall building thing(460ft). I love the sun and it was made for the sun god.
Temple of Artemis Because it was the only one fo the seven wonders taht was a memoir of a female. Artemis was goddes for nurtering and love,but also loved to hunt. Which Shows she cared for her people also the fact that her people worshipped the broken parts of remains of her temple;shows she was very important.
*Pyramids* In my opinion the pyramids is what I consider to be the greatest 7 Ancient Wonders because they made them for the pharrows. Showing all the power and wealth they had controll over back in 3000 B.C.
Repost Pharo of Alexandria, since it was built for civilans, and it actually helped people, instead of just standing there. Plus, it stand there for 900 years, which is pretty amazing since it was made from marbles, with old technology
My favorite is the Pharos of Alexandria because it is built after Zues, it is the 7th wonder, and because it means lighthouse in 7 different languages.
The Pharos of Alexandria is the greatest in my opinion. 1) It was built to help regular people. 2) Almost as tall as the statue of liberty. 3) IT only took 12 years to complete.
I think the Pyramids are the greatest because they are the oldest, and yet they are the only one standing. I also think it's really cool how large they are. The Egyptian culture is kind of interesting to learn about, so that's another reason why i think the pyramids are teh greatest.
I think the pyramids are the greatest. I think they are because first of all, they are huge and also original. They're also still standing. Finally, they contributed today in arcitecture and such like design of roofs and stuff.
I think the Pyramids are the greatest wonders because they are the only one still standing. Also, it was very hard labor to build one of those, because people had to drag like a 2,000 pound block to the top and do it all over again. I think it is cool that they built it as like one big graveyard for the pharoes.

They are the one out of all the 7 Wonders that have made it through the ancient times to now. All though the pyramids are not in the radiant condition that they were in in 3000 b.c., they still withhold time.
I think the Colossus of Rhodes, because it inspired the statue of liberty, and it's the least we know about which makes it mysterious. It looks really special also because it was made of bronze and it took 12 years to make it.
I think the Tomb of Mausolus is the best because it was made out of love not fear. Plus it was a grave and graves are meant to honor and remember the person(or god)> I also like it because it looks awesome.
I liked the pyramids the best. It took the Egyptians a really long time to make them, so that made it pretty special. And it's the only ancient wonder that's still standing today.

I think that Colossus of Rohodes is the greatest wonder because it reminds you of the Statue of Liberty. It took 12 years to make, so that's pretty cool. Also, it was made in Greece and most things that are made there are well known.
I think that the Pyramids are the greatest wonders because they are the only ones still standing today. Also, they were built the earliest and used ancient tools. It demanded extremely hard labor through the hot days when the sun beat down on the Egyptians to the present day when we can admire its beauty. I think that it is really cool that they built the Pyramids as a tomb for the pharoes.
I think the pyramids are the best out of all of them. They have been through outstanding amounts of pain and destruction and there still standing tall since 3000BC. They are pretty beast, just like black ops
I think that the hanging gardens was the greatest because it was in a desert and yet it was full of plant life. It almost looked like a mountian from the distance. I think it is also cool that Milachanezzer had it built for his wife.
I think that the pyramids are the greatest ancient wonder.it has lasted the longest and is the only one still standing. They were made to make people live forever by making their tomb and body preserved forever.
My favorite is the Pharos of Alexandria. It was made for normal people. It is similar to what we have today, known as a lighthouse. It helped by allowing sailors to see.
I think that the Colossus of Rhodes is the greatest. This statue inspired the Statue of Liberty which is a symbol of the United States. Also the Colossus of Rhodes is the one wonder that we know least about, making just as rare.
I believe that the best wonder out of the 7 of them would have to be the pyramids. I think they are the best because they are the oldest wonder and the only ones still standing today. It is amazing to think that back then they were able to build something so massive and have it withstand the weather and time to live up to today.
i think the temple of artemis is the best one i dont know wy though i just liked it it was acually confusing because she said she she doesnt kill any liiving thing but she hunts and killed a guy for spy at her naked.
I think the greatest ancient wonder of the world is Pharos of Alexandria because it was built for the most powerful god Zeus. It was not only to please the god but to help people at sea and Pharos means lighthouse in 7 different languages
I think that the statue of Zeus is the best. It stands for the king of the gods. It was made of gold. That would be cool to have a statue made of gold built for me.
I think the Colossus of Rhodes was the best because I like how they built it using sand to get to the top. It was also inspiration for the Statue of Liberty. It was completely made of bronze too
I think that the Pyramids are the greatest because they are the only remaining wonder. Also, the Pyramids helped with astronomical measurements. Lastly, they are a worldly known tourist attraction that has an eerie tale to it(King Tut).

i think the tomb of masualous or however you spell it because his wife did it out of love for him. even though its not still standing i thought that was the one that was most valuable!
The Pharos is the greatest for several reasons. It wasn't built for a god or ruler. At that time, it was the tallest lighthouse. Today, its base still stands at Alexandria.
I believe that the Pyramids are the greatest ancient wonder. Not only are they still standing, but they were made by hand. It took a great amount of time and a lot of hard working labor to create them. It is also unique that the four corners face exactly North, South, East, and West. The Pyramids are also the greatest because of their unique and well-built structure! :)
I think the Lighthouse of Alexandria is the best because of its long lighting distance. In that time with that technology, it seems impossible to make a tower that tall and that bright.
i think that the pyrimids are because even to today we are still finding wonders inside them and i dont think we will ever stop finding misterys and treasures and wonders in them
I think that the pyramids are the greatest wonder because they are still standing today. They still hold many treasures inside and are still shiny at the top
