Welcome to the Memorial Middle School 8th Grade Humanities Blog!
Humanities is a one semester course for eighth grade students that explores various aspects of the fine arts. Students will study visual, and musical arts. Primary focus is given to those masters who have become known as the great artists and composers withstanding the test of time. These master artists are known as legends in their fields. The key to success in this course is to have an open mind to experiencing the arts.
You need to choose which of the 7 Ancient Wonders you consider to be the greatest. In your comment, you need to give reasons for your choice to support your decision.
My favorite was the pyramids. They were able to survive, even though they are actually the first one that was made. Also, it is interesting that the people who built it were able to get them made quickly enough that it only took several years, albeit only in summer. They were also some of the tallest, if not the tallest.
I like the prymids the best. I like them the best because they are still standing and they are just really cool to look at i think. It has meaning to it, they would put farrows in them and all there treasures

I think the Tomb of Mausolus is the greatest, because it wasn't built to show honor or respect it was built out of love and I think that is greater than all of the other wonders. It was bulit with care, strength, honor, love and hope. That overcomes all things.

I think that the Colossus of Rhodes is the best because it was so tall and we have one today. i think thats really cool even though it didnt last very long.
I think the Tomb of Mausolus is the greatest wonder because i think its cute how his wife made it for her husband. And because she wanted him to be remembered for a long time after his death.
The Pharos of Alexandria were the best because it wasn't built for a god or for any special person, it was built to guide and welcome people. None of the other wonders were helpful to every day people like the Pharos of Alexandria were.

I believe the pharos of Alexandria is the best considering it was used to help man rather than it being used as a temple to worship the gods. Secondly it stood up close to a century. Lastly Pharos (if translated into every language) translates as lighthouse
The Pyramids are my favorite wonder of the world. I like them because they are still standing and yet they were the firtst ones built. Also there so tall so i think its amsing who they could build them so tall. Plus all of the art and treashers in them are neat. Lastly I like them because i find it funny that they put in so much into one persons tomb.
The Statue of Zeus. He was the king of the Gods and the ruler of Ancient Greece. He, according to Greek Mythology, was the creator of man and kept balance between men and Gods.
my favorite is the pyramids becaues they are the only one still standing and i think they were one of the hardest to build becaues of all the heavy stones and all the gold to fill thr tobs
My Favorite wonder is the Pharos of alexandria. I like it because it seems advaced for the time. the light comeing out shined for 36 miles. that would have to have been a huge flame from the tower.
I think that the Temple of Artemis is the greatest wonder seeing as Atremis turned a peeping-tom in to a deer and ordered his dogs to eat him. Artemis was also a tom-boy which I was but now not so much I like being girly better. The Temple of Artemis was like the only wonder in honor of a girl and i think all girls should be worthy of a temple built in thier name.

the hanging because the made water ways/irragation, made exotic plants livee in a desert, and had enough stone to go around the world.

My favorite Wonder of the world is The Statue of Zeus. The statue showed what people believed back then. The Statue's history was interresting to me.
